A B C and D are four different people. The following is each of their interrelated reactions to the drama of life, a drama so vague and general it can only be represented by phrasal verbs and intersection.
A went out.
B went through.
C went on.
D went beyond.
A held on.
B cut off.
C gave in.
D burned out.
A slept away.
B slept through it.
C slept it off.
D slept on it.
A laughed it off.
B laughed it up.
C laughed on falsely.
D laughed through it.
A was called up,
B was called in,
C was called out,
D was called off.
A left off,
B left it in,
C left behind.
D left right.
A came back.
B came off it.
C let it out.
D let them in.
You see how quickly the effect wears off. Any limit is possible; any number of words might be represented by these symbols. However, I will note for pride’s sake a cohesive story can be pieced together from the above involving A B C and D.
The second representation of the drama: verbing nouns.
A, having come back, victoried to bed (gives one a sense of Roman triumph).
B, having come off it, ambulanced to hospital.
C, having let it out, safed it back.
D, after letting them in, domesticed. (I wonder if I should spell that ‘domesticked’ to make the verb sense clearer.)
A incidented.
B materialled, pencilling him down (now we combine).
C withined it (another combination).
D opened the gate to admit the larger force stationed without. (That doesn’t follow the rule at all! Note, however, that their story continues and this moves it forward).
How about: “D individualed his way out”?
A was straitjacketed, B sirred and honoured. C innerlooked and D, soused, diaphanoused. A real whys guy. (A wise guy is a whys guy. But you can’t be full of why if you’re dry.)
A penaltied.
B becaused.
C wherebyed (goodbye!)
D volted again. Volte-faced (revolting behaviour).
Note that, now that their characters and behaviours are established, the actions of these four may be elucidated in greater depth, as they are given meaning by the relations established between them.
D being a troublesome character, the others attended him; thereforing he ought to be reasonabled. Such efforts were envained (enveined, carved into them) by his difficulting, diffidence, and his culting. For D walled himself with loyal die-for-hims (and now verbing lengthens rather than reduces the text).
This was without C’s enjoinment as he had Zerconed himself some time earlier. He recalled himself Cimeon the Cylite and climbed the centuries (What kind of a con would do that to his own mother?).
A and B chiefed and marched as one, becoming AB, the blood-type brothers. Result: D was able to draft O to his course and of cause ‘DO’ by definition became very active, countering AB’s ferrous advance and attaining new heights of glorious revanchism.
In the end the alphabet lost.
